Friends Helping Friends Project Update: In this season of giving, please support the UCSF Friend to Friend shop

January 01, 2019

Dear Friends,

In this season of giving, please consider making a special gift to the UCSF Friend to Friend specialty shop. I’m so pleased to share that our partnership with Athleta was a great success – we have received 2,500 Athleta Empower Bras and in this season of giving, we look forward to distributing them to our patients who need them most.

The UCSF Friend to Friend specialty shop is proud to provide emotional support and foster a sense of community among those affected by cancer, especially underserved women and girls. We provide a range of services that speak to the diverse needs of cancer patients, promoting wellness and further linking patients to community-wide resources.  Will you join our efforts and give today?

Friends Helping Friends Project Update: In this season of giving, please support the UCSF Friend to Friend shop

October 10, 2018

Dear Friends,

As the holiday season approaches, I want to thank you for your continued friendship and commitment to our work at the UCSF Friend to Friend specialty shop.

Because of donors like you, we serve women in the Bay Area and beyond who face financial challenges.  Since 2005, we have provided more than $650,000 in charitable care to over 2,500 women and teenagers with cancer.

This year, we are thrilled to partner with Athleta in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  For every Athleta Empower bra purchased October 2-15, Athleta will donate one bra to UCSF (up to 2,500 bras), and Friend to Friend will distribute them to women recovering from breast cancer surgery.

We look forward to serving women and girls in need at our Mt. Zion location and our new Mission Bay location at the UCSF Precision Cancer Medicine Building, opening in 2019.  We are excited to expand our reach and provide cancer care necessities to a broader community of patients and visitors at Mission Bay.

We are so proud of our accomplishments this year, but we still need your support to sustain our momentum and remain a vital community resource for all women affected by cancer.  Will you join our efforts and make a generous tax-deductible, year-end gift to the UCSF Friend to Friend specialty shop today?

Your gift will provide comfort:

$500 – stylish wigs and head coverings

$350 - breast prosthesis

$100 – post-surgical bra and camisole for one patient

Your generosity has a profound impact on the lives of our patients and their families. With every gift, you help us remain a welcoming oasis where patients can shop in privacy with the help of supportive staff members, many of whom are cancer survivors themselves.

Thank you for considering my request.  I wish you and yours a peaceful holiday season and a happy new year.

With gratitude,

Chris Wilhite Manager, Friend to Friend Specialty Shop
