A Patient Pushes Cancer Research Forward
My name is Robin, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer at 21 and stage 4 metastatic breast cancer 4 years ago. This means the cancer spread to other parts of my body, mostly my liver and bones, and because of that I will never be cancer free again. My cancer is super aggressive and in 4 years I've run through of all of the standard of care drugs and a few clinical trials.
There is no way I would have been able to keep fighting cancer for this many years without the support of my family, friends, and my amazing oncologist, Dr. Hope Rugo. Dr. Rugo is the Director of Breast Cancer Trials at UCSF, and is my best hope for a Hail Mary treatment. Over the last four years Dr. Rugo has also become more than just my oncologist; she is someone I love and respect and is truly part of my family.
I believe with all of my heart that even if there isn't a cure found in my lifetime, one day there will be a cure for metastatic breast cancer and that Hope Rugo will be involved in it. Donating to this fund will not only help patients at UCSF, it will help patients all over the world who will benefit from her research and clinical trials. You can read more about Dr. Rugo and her work here.
